He said the name reversal was done to destabilize the peaceful co-existence of Bassa people as they were not in support and not properly sensitised about the action.

The Etsu Bassa Nge kingdom, Bassa local government area of Kogi state, Brigadier General Abu Ali (rtd), has said the purported name reversal by the Bassa Nge Development Union of the identity of his people from Bassa Nge to Nupe is null and void and should not be considered a reality.

Ali stated this on Thursday at a news conference in Gboloko, Bassa local government area of Kogi state.

The monarch noted that as the custodian of culture of Bassa Nges world wide and for all intent and purposes, the name reversal can’t be as simplistic as it was made to appear.

He reemphasized that the name reversal was done to destabilize the peaceful co-existence of Bassa people as they were not in support and not properly sensitised about the action.

The Etsu therefore called on the federal government, the state and all security agencies to disregard the purported name reversal, noting that due process was not followed.
