The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said that 754 COVID-19 cases were recorded on Thursday across 11 states of the federation and the FCT.
It was the second day of rising COVID-19 cases. On Wednesday 268 cases were reported.
However, the bulk of the cases, was for two days of reckoning in Lagos, representing cases detected 8 and 9 December.
Lagos reported 294 cases on Dec. 8, and 301 on 9 December, giving a total of 595 confirmed cases.
The FCT recorded 68, Imo 49, Edo 13, Oyo 9, Delta 5 and Katsina 4 cases.
Kano and Plateau logged three cases each, while Ekiti and Gombe recorded two cases.
Rivers reported just one case.
The public health institute said 4,662 people were down with illness from the virus, while 207,619 people had been treated and discharged.
It said the infection toll had increased to 215,918.
The fatality toll from the disease stood at 2,981, with one death on 6 December reported for Lagos.
Lagos now has 754 dead from the virus.
It said the country had conducted a total of 3,629,527 sample tests since the virus was announced on Feb. 27, 2020.
