419: Ex-Vice Principal, 2 Others Held
A retired secondary school vice principal, Mr. Somefun Akintoye, 57, and two others have been arrested by the police at Agbado crossing, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria.
Other suspects were identified as 54-year-old Felix Mogaji a retired driver with PHCN and Mr. Jelili Oloyede, a 46-year-old block maker.
Their arrest, P.M.NEWS gathered, was as a result of a complaint lodged by Mr. Bariji Ibraheem Oyinloye to the police that the men promised to sell two plots of land to him at Adiyan, Ijeja, a suburb of Ogun State for N130,000 each since 2007 and that he was given only one plot. He told the police that instead of N260,000 for the plots he has paid a total of N330,000 while he was given a receipt for N230,000.
During interrogation, the suspects claimed that the agreement they had with Mr. Oyinloye was N400,000 per plot and not N130,000 as he claimed.
Police investigations, however, revealed that the two receipts issued to Mr. Oyinloye read N130,000 for one plot while the other reads N100 part payment for two plots.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Mr. Oyinloye said Mr. Jelili Oloyede who is a bricklayer told him to pay N480,000 for him to build the house for him but instead he got another bricklayer who agreed to collect N200,000 for the job and that did not go down well with Mr. Jelili and so they want to collect N280,000 from him at all costs. According to Oyinloye, they have seized the second plot of land from him, asking him to pays an additional N280,000.
The three suspects were released on bail.
Meanwhile, the feuding men have all agreed to meet at the Baale’s palace for amicable settlement and report the outcome back to the police within one week.
