Sadio Mane wrecks Zimbabwe with 97th minute penalty

Senegal edged Zimbabwe with a lone goal in their AFCON Group B encounter in Bafoussam.

The hero was captain Sadio Mane, who sealed victory in the 97th minute with a penalty.

The Liverpool striker and Idrissa Gueye were among those to waste first-half chances

But Mane’s chance to break Zimbabwe hearts came when Kelvin Madzongwe handled the ball in the box.

Mane kept his cool as he stepped forward to power the resulting stoppage-time penalty home.

Senegal reached the final of the 2019 edition of the tournament, only to be beaten by Algeria in Cairo.

But they are one of the favourites to win this year’s competition.

And they seem on course pocketing the whole three points in the match against Zimbabwe.
