Presidential Inauguration: First Lady Visits Hospital, Orphanages
As part of activities to mark the Presidential Inauguration on Sunday, First Lady Patience Jonathan on Thursday visited Wuse General hospital and some orphanages.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jonathan visited Mother Theresa Home and St. Fabian’s Orphanage, both in Abuja.
She said that the visit to the less-privileged was necessary to appreciate them for their role in seeing to President Goodluck Jonathan’s victory in the last election.
At the paediatrics ward and the orphanages, she thanked the care-givers, nurses and doctors for caring for children who were not biologically theirs.
“I love them, I care for them and I will be their mother. Please take them as your biological children because you don’t know what God has in store for them and for you.
“It’s not only your biological children you care for, all children are your children and all women are mothers,†she said.
Quoting from the Book of Proverbs in the Bible, the president’s wife urged the care-givers to “train up the children in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from itâ€.
NAN reports that the First lady also visited the maternity and obstetrics ward of the hospital.
Mrs. Precious Gbeneol, Yeye Bola Dare and Rev. Fr. Callistus Onyeanusi, who spoke on behalf of the hospital and orphanages, thanked Jonathan for her motherly gesture and for her love towards the less-privileged.
