Don’t Forget Your Promise, Fire Victims Tell Govt

Residents of Ifesowapo Otto-Ilogbo Extension Community Development Association, Ebute Meta, a slum community in Lagos Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State, have congratulated Babatunde Raji Fashola for his re-election.

In a letter signed by Comrade Ishola Agbodemu Musbau and Mr. Moruf Bello, chairman and secretary of the association respectively, they urged the governor to continue with his good policies and programmes aimed at making Lagos a better place.

They also used the medium to remind the governor of the promise he made when fire gutted the community on 27 February, 2010, saying that the victims are still waiting on the governor to fulfil his promise.

“Sir, we are reminding you and pleading for the promise you made to residents of Ifesowapo Otto/Ilogbo Extension Community Development Association, who were victims of a fire on 27 February, 2010 and toil in hope that you will put a smile on their faces with the relief package you promised.

“As we continue to thank you, we wish you God’s guidance on the second lap of your journey to paddle Lagos State to greater heights.”

In a chat with Lagos Bulletin, Agbodemu said during the visit of officials of LASEMA and the Ministry of Rural Development and Infrastructure to asses the level of destruction after the incident, lots of promises were made concerning relief materials from the state government for the victims, but up till now, such were yet to be redeemed.

He stated further stated that for the past one year that the accident occurred, the victims have been living in terrible conditions and therefore pleaded with the Governor Fashola to act immediately to put an end to their suffering.
