How We Killed Petrol Dealer — Suspect

The two suspects arrested in connection with the killing of a 40-year old businessman and in a hotel, have told the police how they carried out the dastardly act.

The two suspects, Ogunrinola Salman, 58 and Oladele Onipede, 59, who are guards at the hotel in Ogun State told police detectives at Eleweran Police Command that they killed Musiliu Kehinde Taiwo by macheting him and hitting him with an iron rod on the head.

In a confessional statement to the police, Ogunrinola Salman, said: “We killed Musiliu Kehinde Taiwo and later deposited his body outside the hotel so that people will think that he was an armed robber.

“He did not commit any crime but we just killed him.”

The police have declined to disclose who sent them and those who own the three guns and ammunition found in the hotel. They were said to be unlicensed guns.

The deceased’s wife, Mrs. Philomena Taiwo, said: “My husband’s friend knew about the killing. Before the incident, my husband was always complaining about his friends greed as regards money.

“My husband told me before he left home that day that he was going to collect money from those he sold some fuel dispensers to at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. It was later I was told that he had been killed. This must not be swept under the carpet.”

An elder brother to the deceased, Mr. Olakunle Taiwo, also said: “These security men said they killed him and for what reasons? Who sent them? The police must unravel all these?”

All efforts to speak with the owner of the hotel proved abortive.

The suspects have been charged to Ota Magistrate’s Court for murder and the case has been adjourned till 11 August, 2011.

The magistrate, Mr. O.O. Ojo ordered that they be remanded in prison.
