Gun-toting terrorists attacked communities in Niger state on Monday and early today, killing three soldiers, four Vigilantes and four villagers.
The soldiers and vigilantes were ambushed and killed while on patrol at Kwanan Dutse in Mariga local government area.
Several others were injured during the attack, the second incident in the area in the last two weeks.
The gunmen had two weeks ago killed three policemen and injured others in the same area.
The four villagers were killed Monday in Ishau community in Paikoro local government area.
Hundreds of villagers in Kuna, Amale, Adunu, Kudami, Beni and Ishau fled as their abodes came under heavy attack from the gunmen.
Among those killed in Adunu was a 20 year old.
He was shot at a close range while returning to the village with his motorcycle after dropping passengers at Kafin Koro.
At Beni, a woman was shot on her legs.
She is receiving treatment at the Kafin Koro hospital.
Chairman of Paikoro local government Mallam Yohana Yakubu could not be reached on Tuesday.
But a reliable source said about 100 terrorists wielding sophisticated weapons carried out the attacks.
According to the source, the local vigilantes the Joint Security TaskForce put up a brave fight against the gunmen killing a number of them.
This forced them to leave the communities.
