Gbajabimila said: "Clerk, this is a very serious matter and I'm going to hold you responsible and whoever is responsible for this as well."

The House of Representatives was forced to adjourn plenary on Thursday over the non-availability of order paper for the day’s plenary.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, took his seat about 11:15 am but discovered that the order paper, which usually contains the agenda for a sitting, was not available.

Gbajabiamila, who was visibly angered by the development, however, ordered that whoever was in charge of order paper in the Committee on Rules and Business, be removed.

He said: “Clerk, whoever is in charge, I want him removed and put somebody else who is more efficient.”

The House consequently adjourned sitting till Tuesday.

However, Gbajabiamila again lashed out at the Clerk before hitting the gavel to approve the adjournment.

The Speaker said: “Clerk, this is a very serious matter and I’m going to hold you responsible and whoever is responsible for this as well. This house sits at 11 am and everybody knows that. We adjourned yesterday to 11 today and it’s 11:20, when I came in there was nobody on this row, you are not here and none of your deputies were here. The order paper is not ready and we cannot function as a house, what kind of thing is that? we are now forced to adjourn the house. Everybody should see me in my office now.”
