Pastor Michael Sunday walks free after defiling minor

Pastor Michael Sunday, who is a resident pastor in a church (name protected) in Olufunsho Adeyeye street in Oke-Aro, Agbado, Ogun State, has walked free after confessing to defiling a 14-year-old girl (name protected).

The victim is also the daughter of the molester’s mentor (now dead).

Sunday confessed after the girl opened up to a woman in the neighborhood that the 37-year-old man had been sleeping with her since she was 12.

But, Sunday told the angry youths who confronted him on Monday evening that the illicit activities started in August 2021.

However, the mother of the victim who spoke with our correspondent on Tuesday confirmed the development.

She said Pastor Sunday was the adopted son of her late husband who was the founder of the church.

But surprisingly, she disapproved of the treatment meted out to Sunday by the angry youths.

According to her, Sunday is a man of God and should not have been beaten but left to God.

She also supported the decision not to report the matter to the police.

She said: “My late husband brought Sunday to this church, he has been working in our church long before my husband died but I was not around when he was beaten. I was told he was seriously beaten and I don’t like that, he is a man of God and I leave him to God.”

When told that Sunday will be reported to the police, she said: “No, I don’t want him arrested, the beating is enough. Please let’s end the matter.”

However, some elders in the area who spoke to our correspondent said there has been a questionable relationship between Sunday and the victim’s mom.

One of the elders said: “We saw the moves since Pastor Sunday’s mentor died but we could not picture such abominable act.”

Pastor Sunday is now at large.
