Miss Jane Amos,who confirmed that there has pressures on her to drop the case told journalists shortly after she was discharged from the hospital over the weekend that there was no iota of truth in the rumour.

She said that those who are spreading the rumours do no know the she narrowly escaped death.

“Do they know what I went through both physically and emotionally? I was close to death. I was traumatized. They don’t know that the intention throwing burning Kerosene stove at me was not only permanently disfigure me, but to kill me. I have been drained materially and mentally.”

She said that the Police Officers investigating the case from State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department ,SCIID; visited her at the hospital and took her statement on the matter.

Miss Amos noted that it is a clear case of attempted murder.

“My being alive today is an act of God,even though there is pressure from some quarters on me and my family to abandon the case,I want to state clearly that I have not and will not abandon the case. I want Justice to be seen and done in the matter.I have suffered severe pains,trauma and great financial loss since the day the incident occurred.I call on the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mr. Eboka Friday to use his good office to ensure Justice is not denied me in the matter”.

She thanked the media, human rights organizations and Nigerians for their efforts in ensuring Justice is done in the matter.

As of the time of filing this report,it was not clear if the Police officer who was arrested then is still being detained.

It would be recalled that CP Eboka Friday, ordered the arrest and detention of one Police Inspector Eze Agbelu for allegedly inflicting sever burns on one Jane Amos over failed love advances and physical fight.

Agbelu was attached to a traditional ruler from Ahoada East local goverment area in the State, but resides at Rumuokwuota in Obio-Akpor local government.

He allegedly threw burning stove on her in their resident at Rumukwuota a month ago.

Miss Jane Amos disclosed that trouble started when she took her niece to the bathroom to bath her and on getting there the Inspector was coming out of the bathroom and accused her of pouring water outside.

She explained that this led to a brief altercation during which she asked him what the problem was while she took her niece inside the bathroom to bath her.

Miss Amos alleged that the Police Inspector continued insulting her and threatened to physically assault her, while she took her niece inside her room to dress up the little girl.

She further alleged that when she came out of her room to remove the pot of rice and bean she was cooking ,she saw the Police Officer at her corridor and she asked him what he was doing in her corner, the Police Officer allegedly slapped her and grabbed her by neck as if to strangle as she struggled with him.

Miss Amos alleged that as fight ensued,the officer later threw away the food she was cooking and carried the burning stove and threw on her which resulted to severe burns.
