I’ll Never Be Disloyal To My Boss — Adefulire

New Deputy Governor of Lagos State , Hon. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire has vowed never to be disloyal to her boss, Governor Babatunde Fashola.

Orelope-Adefulire made this vow before hundreds of Christian leaders, in her constituency at a thanksgiving service in honour of Fashola by the Christian Association of Nigeria, at the Chapel of Christ the Light Chapel, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos , southwest Nigeria on Thursday.

The Christian leaders had earlier prayed fervently for the deputy governor to succeed and that God would chase off the spirit of disloyalty throughout her term as deputy governor.

“I am honoured to be in the midst of religious leaders. I promise to be diligent, hardworking, dedicated and to serve well. I promise that I will strive to carry out my assignment loyally,” she stated.

The deputy governor, who also represented Fashola at the event said: “I thank you for your love, support, and particularly during the fasting and various prayer sessions in your churches so that we could have peaceful and successful elections.

“And I thank God that those sacrifices were not in vain after all. The governor said this is your government. We are in it together, you have elected us to represent and serve; we would continue to welcome your advice, counsel, useful observations and information that will help us to improve in serving the people of Lagos State.”

Earlier, the Diocesan Bishop of Lagos and Dean, Church of Nigeria , Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Ephraim Ademowo said the Christian community was waiting to see the first railway project in Lagos and called on the governor to expedite action on the Light Rail project.

He also wanted the Federal Government to do something urgent about the epileptic power supply in the nation, lamenting that the Anglican Church on Lagos Island alone spent about N1.2 million on diesel on a monthly basis to power the electricity generator.

Ademowo called on Lagosians to pray fervently for the governor and his deputy and to pray for peaceful co-existence among the various ethnic groups in the country.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor, who resumed last Tuesday has read the riot act to civil servants working in her office, saying she would not condone any act of indiscipline and unbecoming behaviour among staff.

She also warned that acts such as truancy, lateness, gossip, malingering and other vices that could undermine the growth of a virile civil service would not be tolerated among her staff.

Orelope-Adefulire urged the staff to rededicate themselves to their duties, saying, “I am a workaholic, so prepare for more work. My priority is to help our Governor achieve his set goals and electioneering promises to Lagosians. I am always ready to receive ideas. I cherish ideas, I cherish innovation and I cherish information.”

Orelope-Adefulire pledged to complement the efforts of the governor to deliver good governance to the people of the state.

“Lagosians have sacrificed a lot to ensure the victory of the governor at the just concluded national elections and as such deserve to reap the fruits of their labour through improved services,” she stated.
