‘Bankole, Others Must Be Prosecuted’
Founder, Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, constitutional lawyer, Itse Sagay and others have called for the prosecution of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and others who shared the controversial N10 billion loan obtained by the House.
Bankole is already in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over the act.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS this morning, Bakare said the law should be allowed to take its full course and that nothing should be swept under the carpet.
He said that all those who shared in the N10 billion must be made to return it immediately while the money should be put back into the coffers of the House.
According to Sagay, the leadership of the House should be prosecuted for carrying out this criminal act without recourse to the constitution, adding that the money was not budgeted for.
“What they have done is a violation of the constitution and it is criminal,†he stated, adding that the matter should still be seriously investigated.
Former Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa said all those who shared in the money must be arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of the land.
“They should investigate the matter thoroughly while all those who shared the money must face the wrath of the law,†he said.
Musa was, however, sad that nothing would come out of the ongoing saga as those involved would soon be set free just like the case of Patricia Etteh.
“This is because our political leaders in this country are thieves. In the end, the whole hullabaloo will die down and nothing will happen to Bankole and others.
“The EFCC is not fighting corruption; they only gather the dossiers of evil doers and destroy them. There have been several allegations of corruption made against the president, governors and others in the past nothing had been done about,†he lamented.
Also speaking, former presidential candidate, Chief Olu Falae said, “we have a law in this country and let the law take its course. The law should be applied in this matter.â€
National Publicity Secretary, Afenifere Renewal Group, Yinka Odumakin lamented the decay in the National Assembly, saying that what is going on now was just a tip of the iceberg.
He called on Nigerians to beam the searchlight on their leaders and show concern on how they were being led by those they entrusted their mandate.
