The event, which was underway at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, was later cancelled by Tinubu in honour of victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.

Facts have emerged why Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was conspicuously missing at the 70th birthday colloquium of APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The event, which was underway at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, was later cancelled by Tinubu in honour of victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.

Terrorists had on Monday night opened fire on passengers after halting the train with explosives. Over 900 passengers were on the train when the incident occurred.

However, Osinbajo was said to be on his way to attend the Colloquium in Lagos, when made U-turn and headed to Kaduna as a result of the tragedy.

Osinbanjo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a tweet explained why his boss did not attend the event, though it was later cancelled.

According to him, Osinbajo was on his way for the Colloquium when he heard of the gravity of the Kaduna attack, which made him change his mind.

He said: “On his way to Lagos for the 13th Tinubu Colloquium marking former Lagos State Governor’s 70th birthday, VP had to detour to Kaduna this afternoon on receiving news of the extent of human and material losses occasioned by yesterday’s dastardly attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway route.”
