Osahon abducted Guardian reporter regains freedom

The Bayelsa State correspondent of the Guardian Newspaper, Mr.Julius Olusegun Osahon has regained his freedom from abductors.

He was freed on Friday night.

Osahon was kidnapped on 27 March while heading to Delta State from Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

It was not clear whether he paid the N5million demanded.

Journalists who have been able to establish contact with Osahon after his release said he was in stable condition.

Osahon’s ultimate destination was Abuja.

But when the commercial bus he boarded got to Patani axis of the East-West Road, hoodlums ambushed the bus and shot the driver, who died immediately.

Five of the kidnapped passengers, three from Delta and two from Bayelsa were released the next day Monday morning around 8:30am.
