In a webinar that was recently hosted in Lagos, a sociologist, Mr Jude Steven, discussed the various benefits of sending texts and messages to loved ones.
Steven stated: “According to a survey my team carried out, sending wishes and messages to loved ones can have positive benefits. The act of sending positive thoughts and well-wishes can improve the sender’s mood and outlook, as well as the recipient’s.”
He added: “The survey found that those who sent wishes and messages to loved ones reported feeling happier and more connected than those who didn’t. They also felt more supported and appreciated. In addition, the recipients of these messages reported feeling happier, more connected, and more supported as well.”
He mentioned that people could easily get suitable wishes and messages from websites such as wishesgenerator.com
This survey provides anecdotal evidence that something as simple as sending a wish or message to a loved one can have a positive impact on both the sender and the recipient. So next time you’re feeling down or disconnected, try reaching out to your loved ones with a positive message. It just might make you both feel a little better.
This could be a soothing balm in an environment where bad news comes out on TV, radio, newspapers and social media. Worse still, the political climate is not any less tense.
It is a daily practical psychology that has a therapeutic effect on nerves that have become wounded by struggles for survival.
