The newest addition in the Afrobeats scene, Nigerian musician Snazzy the Optimist, has showcased remarkable singing and songwriting ability in his new song ‘Seluna’.

The Nigerian-born singer, rapper, and songwriter is a native of Imo State. While there are other unknown Snazzy’s musical influences, his father, who he has described as his biggest musical influence influenced his early childhood love for music. Growing up he listened primarily to African popular music, highlife, rap and gospel. He started off as a rapper while schooling, free-styling on beats and covering popular tracks in the late 2010s, one of the tracks he covered includes Teni’s “Case”.

He had his high school in Imo State where he was born and graduated in 2018. The following year he moved to Lagos State in 2019 shortly after his high school graduation and got an opportunity to perform at Felabration.

Prior that stage of his life, In the year 2021, the singer-songwriter, and rapper began his professional musical career in 2021 with ‘Seluna’,. Seluna is a blend of Afrobeats, with good riddims and focus. In the intro Snazzy started with a touching message before the tempo eventually changed to charge up his listeners. It has received positive reviews from fans.

Snazzy the Optimist has proven himself with his artistic skills and he is surely one of the emerging talents set to inject some sonic diversity into Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene as he is gradually vaulting himself as a worthy member of the African popular music.
