Although he said the strike would not determine an increase or decrease in its students’ intake, the institution has been highly competitive in spite of the ongoing industrial action by the union.

The American University of Nigeria in Yola has admitted over 3,000 students into various academic programmes run by the institution.

Mr. Daniel Okereke, Executive Director, Communications of the AUN, said the university has been admitting students within and outside the shores of Nigeria.

He said the admission procedure was being determined by the American system of education in which students’ admissions were centred on the fall and spring semesters in consideration of the climatic season.

According to him, the university received students from some public and private universities across the country despite the ongoing ASUU strike.

Although he said the strike would not determine an increase or decrease in its students’ intake, the institution has been highly competitive in spite of the ongoing industrial action by the union.

He said, “We admit a reasonable number of students commensurate with our facilities and our quest for quality delivery.”
