39-year Old Peacemaker Stabbed To Death

A 39-year-old man has been stabbed to death while trying to settle a dispute.

The deceased, Obayomi Abel, a tailor and a father of 5 from Idere, Igbo-ora, Oyo State, until his death resided at Orile Kajola, Oko-paki, Onihale, Ifo, Ogun State.

P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that on Sunday last week at 3.30 pm, an elderly man called ‘Baba’ who lives in the same apartment with the deceased went to a food vendor to buy food.

On getting there, he met the suspect, Gbenga, beating a nine-year-old deaf boy. Baba was said to have cautioned him but instead of listening to Baba, Gbenga was said to have pounced on him.

When Obayomi (deceased) was informed, he went to the scene and in an attempt to stop Ggbenga from beating Baba, he was allegedly beaten and stabbed to death by the suspect and his three friends.

An eyewitness who gave her name as Wosilat said “everybody in the town has disappeared to avoid being killed by the suspect; he is a ritualist, any time he needs blood to drink, he kills and it is not a new story here. Let me give an instance, there was a day he intended to kill a pregnant woman and when the woman struggled to escape from him, he picked a fowl, cut its head and drank its blood.”

“Can you imagine how he killed Obayomi with his thugs? They killed him, removed his intestines and dumped his corpse in the bush at Mejesise junction at Kajola Onihala,” she concluded.

The suspects were arrested and taken to Ifo Police Station from where the were later transferred to the Ogun State Police Command, Abeokuta.

Baba, who was injured by the suspect is currently recuperating in a private hospital.
