8 Permanent Secretaries To Go In Ogun

Eight Permanent Secretaries will be quitting their jobs in Ogun State Government soon.

The affected senior officers have either put in the required number of years in service to warrant retirement or otherwise.

The names of those affected are Mr Jide Oyenuga -Bureau of Political Affairs/Administration, Mr. Seyi Banjoko -Ministry of Forestry; Barr. Demola Badejo -Clerk of the House of Assembly; Alhaji Kehinde Ogunfowodu -Bureau of Employment Generation; Mr Babajide Oyeti -Ministry of Local Government/Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. M.O. Lawal -Teaching Service Commission; Mr B.M. Salawu -Bureau of State Pensions and Alhaji M.I.Opebiyi-Bureau of Economic Planning/Development.

A reliable source told our correspondent that one of the reasons has to do with the jumbo salary approved for them by the Gbenga Daniel administration towards the end of that administration.

According to the source,”the governor was shocked when it was revealed that that a Permanent Secretary in the state is being paid N1 million monthly. The truth of the matter is that when Otunba Gbenga Daniel came into office in 2003, he met their salary at N450,000 and it was like that until he was returned in 2007 and he increased it to N700,000 without following due process.

“Suprisingly, a few weeks to the end of Daniel’s administration in May, he again increased the money to N1 million, but the governor (Amosun) has slashed it back to #450,000.”

Another source confided in P.M.NEWS that,”though,no official statement has been made in respect of that, it is a fact that some perm secretaries will go and before the end of the month, more heads are still going to roll.”
