Boska Cup: Goal FC, Others In 2nd Round
Goal Football Club of Ikeja have joined other 10 clubs to book a place in the second round of the ongoing first round of Boska Soccer Championship.
Goal FC defeated People To People Football Club of Ikeja 2-1 in the penalty shootout after one goal apiece in the pulsating encounter played on Tuesday at the Astro turf of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Shortly after the encounter, Goal Coach, Abdul Folawiyo, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of result. He told P.M.Sports that both teams played purposeful football in the regulation time, but his team were more focused on penalty shootout.
“I am happy that we started well because this is our first time participating in Boska Cup. We have proved to other teams that we have a mission in this competition and our mission is to win the cup which I believe is very possible,†he said.
In his comment, Coach of People To People FC, Segun Odebunmi, expressed saddness over his team’s loss. He said they would have won the encounter if his players utilised their chances.
“We played well, we created so many chances but my players could not score more than a goal at full time. Honestly, I feel sad because we are not going to feature anymore in Boska Cup. Our opponents were lucky to have won the game via penalty shootout. We will go back home and prepare for MAF Cup which is currently holding in Oshodi Sports Centre,†said Odebunmi who commended the organisation, officiating and standard of the championship.
In the match watched by hundred of spectators, Emeka Jacob of People To People FC opened the net in the 5th minute while Umor Emerald cancelled the goal deficit in the 25th minute.
