Bizman Drags Wife To Court Over Adultery

A Nigerian businessman based in the Republic of Ireland, Mr. Abayomi Olaore, 33, has dragged his wife before the Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos, seeking the dissolution of their union over adultery.

“My wife is adulterous, no longer takes care of me and my kids and disrespects my family. I don’t love her again,” he stated in his petition.

The petitioner disclosed that he lived with the respondent and two children, Aishat Olajumoke, 8 and Abdulsalam Ademola, 5 for five years before he travelled to Ireland in 2008.

“I made it a point of duty to call my family at least three times a day and also ensured that they receive N20,000 feeding allowance monthly.

“After some months, I started receiving information from reliable sources that my wife was bringing lovers to our home.

“I called and told her what I heard. She denied it. I told her father about it and he advised me to be calm and that something will be done about it. But I kept hearing all sorts of negative behaviours about her.

“I came home in 2009 and in order to put a stop to what she described as rumours, I rented another house for her and the kids. Despite this, I continued to receive reports of her leaving the children with friends and neighbours and spending two to three days away from home,” he narrated.

The petitioner also told the court that each time he called and requested to speak with his kids, she always gives different excuses. “They are either with her sister or she is at the bus-stop getting something for them and many other lies,” he added.

“Recently, I came home from Europe and did not inform her of my coming. I met a man in the house as late as 10 p.m. She claimed that he was her uncle and I know it’s a lie. Apart from all these, she has poisoned the children’s mind towards me. Whenever I call my little son, who is only five years old, he will call me a useless daddy,” he stated.

In her response, Mrs. Ibironke Olaore, 28, a teacher in a private school, denied the allegations, saying that since she got married to the petitioner, his family never liked her.

“They keep doing all they can to make me unhappy. When he came back from Ireland and told me about all he was hearing about me, I told him to cool down and investigate properly because I was not into anything like that. My father also pleaded with him, but he said the contract he had with I and my family had expired.

“He was always finding fault with me. There was a day, when I was still pregnant, that I dished food for both of us. He got angry and beat me up on the claims that my food was more than his.

When he returned from overseas, he came to my house with his brother without informing me. They came with a hammer and forcefully collected my son from me,” she told the court.

When asked by the court how much her husband should give her for feeding and medical allowances for the kids on a monthly basis, she said N90,000.

After listening to both parties, the court president, E.B. Shokunle adjourned the case till 5 July, 2011.
