Pregnant Woman Steals Generator

A 30-year-old pregnant woman was on Wednesday charged before the Somolu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing items worth N300,000.

Taiwo Ominu is facing a count charge of stealing before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi.

She, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. A. Adegoke, told the court that the accused allegedly stole a Yamaha generator and a three-seater chair belonging to one Farida Bashiru.

According to Adegoke, the accused rented a shop from the complainant in which the items mentioned above were kept.

“Ominu hired the shop from Bashiru to facilitate her business, but she later informed the complainant that her property had been stolen,’’ he said.

He said that the accused committed the offence sometime in June at 13-14, Adebowale St. Maryland, Lagos.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

Osunsanmi admitted the accused to a bail of N250,000, with a surety in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till July 15 for trial.
