Oyo Legislators End 3-Day Induction Today

As Oyo State House of Assembly today concludes three days induction course held at Micom Golf Course, Ada, Osun State, the Speaker, Honourable Monsurat Jumoke Sumonu has vowed that the 7th Assembly in the state would be alive to its responsibilities under her leadership.

Honourable Sumonu said that it is only a functional and effective legislature that could promote a smooth running of a democratic government.

She said that the role of legislators as prescribed in the 1999 Constitution as amended are enormous and demanding, hence the need to be equipped in what the constitution is expected of them for the task ahead.

The speaker said since learning is an aspect of human development which has to be pursued with all seriousness, the 32 legislators at the induction course must understand that the course was an essential aspect of learning which would make their job as legislators an easier one.

While urging the members to take the training very seriously, she commended the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for supporting and approving the training and making it a reality.

The induction course was organised by the management of the Oyo State House of Assembly as a means of putting the newly elected legislators on good footing in the art of law making in the 7th Assembly in the state.
