Manchester City cemented their top spot in Group G of the Champions League, thrashing Sevilla 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The visitors took the lead on 31 minutes from an Isco corner which found Rafa Mir. He jumped highest and coolly planted a bullet header into the right side of the goal.

City equalised on 52nd minute from a superb finishing from Rico Lewis. Julian Alvarez played a fantastic through ball which found Lewis, who reacted quickly to get in front of the goalkeeper and fired a close-range shot into the right side of the goal.

Four minutes later, Ruben Dias had a great chance to put City ahead. He leapt high to meet a precise cross from the corner, directing his towering header right under the bar, but the goalkeeper denied him with a miraculous save.
Julian Alvarez gave City 2-1 on 73rd minute after running on to a clever pass from Kevin De Bruyne. He found himself one-on-one with the keeper, finishing with aplomb into the back of the net.
Alvarez then set up Riyad Mahrez for City’s third goal. He gave Mahrez a clear sight of goal on the edge of the box. He did disappoint and beat the keeper in the right side of the goal.
