Alhassan Ado-Doguwa had in the past few days been speaking about the crises in the Kano chapter of APC, warning that it would affect the party in the 2023 elections.

The presidential candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP) Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, has begin moves to exploit the crisis in the Kano chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC to poach one of the strongmen of the party, Rep Alhasan Doguwa, who is also the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

Alhassan Ado-Doguwa had in the past few days been speaking about the crises in the Kano chapter of APC, warning that it would affect the party in the 2023 elections.

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly last Friday, Ado-Doguwa said though Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has governed the state well, those he handed the party affairs to in the state witch-hunt loyal party members which forced them to defect from the party.

Ado-Doguwa, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano, said he has no problem with the Governor, but insisted that the Kano APC is in problem

“Time has come when I should sincerely come out as a peaceful member of my party and discharge my responsibility,” the lawmaker said.

“I want to say today without any fear of contraction; without any fear of intimidation; without any fear of any quarter or any authority anywhere that there is fire on the mountain as far as the APC is concerned in Kano State. Fire on the mountain – I repeat, there is fire on the mountain.

“This is the right time to say it because we have been going through silent crisis, especially in the area of party administration and politicking with a lot of intrigues and exclusion of members.

“Management and administration of the party is being done exclusively by a few members of the party who are by all standing are not supposed to handle what they are handling in the APC. I want to say for the purpose of clarification that I am talking about party politics in Kano; in our party, the APC,” he added.

But Kwankwaso, also a former governor of Kano, in a statement signed by Sanusi Bature, spokesperson for the NNPP’s Gubernatorial candidate in Kano had set up a four man committee to entice Doguwa into his party following the crisis.

The statement said the Chairman of the party and former Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly Kabiru Rurum, announced formation of the committee.

It said that Kwankwaso constituted the committee, led by Sen. Rufai Hanga, to visit Doguwa, together with Rurum as the party’s State Chairman.

Other members of the committee for the task are Umar Doguwa and Sarki Daneji, according to the statement.

“Politics is game of numbers, we are open for reconciliation and reunion with our old friends and associates in our quest to achieve a new Nigeria.

“At some point, most of us were in different parties against Dr. Kwankwaso, but after realising his political sagacity, we reunited with him in the NNPP.” Rurum revealed.

He, however, said they were much comfortable with the reuinion than ever, assuring that Rep Doguwa would have a warm reception in the party.

“I assure all that the house leader will have a warm reception back to the Kwankwasiyya Political Movement and the NNPP because he was once a member of its kitchen cabinet.” Rurum said.
Rurum further revealed that they would pay the visit to Doguwa, to fulfill the conditions of reuniting with him, describing him as a “big fish” in the party’s net.

“In politics, there is no permanent friend nor permanent enemy, but what we want is to promote friendship not enmity.”
