Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, described his wife, Ibijoke, as a jewel of inestimable value.
The governor showered the praises in a social media post to celebrate Ibikoke’s birthday.
He shared a picture of himself and his wife and wrote, “Today I celebrate a jewel of inestimable value, my partner, prayer warrior, mother of my children and the First Lady of Lagos, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwoolu. Thank you for your strength, selflessness and sacrifice, as we paddle the waters of governance in the state.
“You have been gracious and understanding even in the face of challenges that come with the office. You have stood up and shown up for me, and I truly appreciate you. Thank you for holding forth on the home front, while juggling the role of the First Lady. Happy Birthday my darling wife and soulmate. God bless you.”
Claudiana Ibijoke Carrena was born in 1967 in the Lagos Island neighborhood of Popo-Aguda, the daughter of Paulinus Olusegun Carrena.
Like most residents of the historic neighborhood, the Carrena family are Brazilian descendants.
Sanwo-Olu graduated from the University of Lagos Akoka, Yaba campus, with an MBBS, and went on to earn a post-graduate diploma in Hospital and Health Management (PGDHM) as well as a Diploma in Anesthesia (DA). She also has a master’s degree in public health (MPH) and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA).
Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu worked for the Lagos State Government for 25 years, rising through the ranks of medicine to become the Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer at Harvey Road Comprehensive Health Centre in Yaba, before being transferred to the General Hospital in Somolu.
She is also a women and children advocate.
