The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has announced that the statue of the Queen Mother (Iyoba N’ Uselu), Ikuoyemwen, will be unveiled on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba, Mr Osaigbovo Iguobaro and made available to newsmen in Benin.

Iguobaro said Oba Ewuare had conferred the Chieftaincy title of Iyoba N’ Uselu on his mother, Queen Ikuoyemwen, posthumously in November 2021.

He noted that the Iyoba N’ Uselu title began during the era of Queen Idia, the mother of Oba Esigie, in the 16th century.

“The unveiling of the statue will take place at five junctions on Uselu Lagos Road, Benin, on Feb. 24,” he said.
