Oliseh Makes Case For Eagles

Former Super Eagles’ captain, Sunday Oliseh, has attributed the absence of Nigerian players in top clubs in Europe to poor runs by the national team for over a decade.

While speaking on Brila FM early today, Oliseh said it is only when Nigeria’s Super Eagles start performing in international tournaments that the players would be the delight of top club sides in Europe and other parts of the world.

“Nigeria last great performance was in France ’98 and it led to the exodus of many Nigerian players to top clubs in Europe. Good performance enhances playing for great clubs in Europe,” he said.

Speaking on his new UEFA Pro coaching license, he said he needs to prove his worth in Europe before considering any national assignment. The UEFA Pro licensed coach tasked all stakeholders in Nigerian football to work harder to restore the nation’s lost glory in football, adding that the Eagles and other national teams need to be at their best all the time.
