“Let me assure you that we will explore all legal and peaceful options to reclaim our mandate. We won the election and we will prove it to Nigerians,” he vowed.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the Feb. 25 election, Dr Peter Obi, has assured his supporters of his determination to seek redress in court over what he regarded as his stolen mandate.

Obi said this at his first press address since the conclusion of the elections.

He accused the electoral authorities of predetermining the results of the election.

“The election has been conducted and results announced as programmed. It is a clear deviation from the electoral rules and guidelines as we were promised. This election as you know did not meet the minimum standard expected of a free, transparent, credible and fair election. It would go down as one of the most controversial elections ever conducted in Nigeria.

“The good and hard-working people of Nigeria have again been robbed by their supposed leaders whom they trusted,” Obi said.

He, however, appealed for calm, saying “let me humbly appeal to Nigerians to remain peaceful, law-abiding and comport themselves in the most responsible manner. Please, be assured that Datti and I, and indeed all of us that this is not the end but the beginning of the journey for the birth of a new Nigeria.

“Datti and I remain undaunted and deeply committed to the project of a new Nigeria that will be built on honesty, transparency, fairness, justice and equity.”

He, therefore, promised his supporters that he and his running mate, Datti Ahmed would use the instrumentality of the law to get justice.

“Let me assure you that we will explore all legal and peaceful options to reclaim our mandate. We won the election and we will prove it to Nigerians,” he vowed.
