Benzema hits hat-trick as Madrid crush Barcelona at Camp Nou 

Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick on Wednesday as visiting Real Madrid crushed Barcelona 0-4 in the semi-final of Copa Del Rey at Camp Nou.

Barcelona had won the first leg at the Bernabeu Stadium by a lone goal and needed to maintain the lead to qualify for the final of the tournament, but Madrid carried the day.

Madrid opened scoring on first half added time after Benzema managed to prod the ball to Vinicius Junior after a melee inside the box, and he needed no second invitation to slot the ball into the bottom right corner.

Five minutes after the break, Madrid doubled through Benzema. A Great link up play between Benzema and Luka Modric gave the former a clear sight of goal on the edge of the box. He did not disappoint and beat the keeper in the bottom left corner.

The Madrid striker got his brace on 58 minutes. He won the battle of wills from the penalty spot and sent an unstoppable penalty past Marc-Andre ter Stegen into middle of the goal.

Benzema scored his third goal to make it 0-4 for Madrid after running onto a pass from Vinicius Junior after great counter attacking play and hit a fine first-time shot into the net from close range.

It was a big blow for Barcelona after they have almost won the La Liga, leading Madrid with 12 points. It was their biggest defeat at home for a long time.
