Kolad Schools founder seeks gov’t support for private schools

The founder and Proprietor of Kolad Schools, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria, Mr Akinyemi Somoye has called on the Federal and State Governments as well as Financial institutions to assist genuine private School operators in the Country financially to enable them to raise sound-minded pupils for global impact.

He made the call in Lagos during the maiden Inter-House Sports competitions Kolad Schools held on Tuesday, 4 April 2023 at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria.

Somoye said private School owners were operating under a lot of financial constraints and therefore needed support from the governments and Financial institutions to provide adequate facilities for a conducive atmosphere for Pupils’ learning.

While giving a brief history of his School, Somoye said Kolad Schools was inaugurated in June, 2007 with a vision to provide a platform where children would imbibe a culture of academic distinctions standing tall and making a positive mark in their academic endeavours.

According to him, Kolad Schools is a non-discriminating institution with a team of seasoned, highly qualified and dedicated staff as well as excellent facilities on ground.

Speaking about the Inter-House Sports event, Somoye stated that the management of Kolad Schools decided to hold the Inter-House Sports not only to bring out the sporting talent of the Students but to also develop the mental and physical well-being of the students.

The event featured nursery, Primary and College boys and girls competitions in areas such as 50 and 75-meter race for nursery pupils, 100 and 200 races for boys and girls, finding the lost coin, fill in the basket, Sack race and lime on a spoon.

Other activities included invited Schools’ relays for boys and girls, Staff and Parents races.

The invited Schools that participated in the competitions and carted home medals for outstanding performances include Alliance, Kingstone, Jolaz College and Auty Ayo International School.

Four Kolad Schools houses branded in red, blue, green and yellow colours that participated in all the competitions made an impressive outing to the delights of parents and guardians who thronged the event to cheer their children.

At the end of the competition, blue house won the overall trophy, while the red and green houses took second and third positions with a trophy. The yellow house went home with consolation gifts.

Dignitaries in attendance include Mr Olawale Johnson, Lagos State Chairman, Nigeria Association of Athletics, Mr Bakare Gbenga, School P.T.A Chairman; Pastor Candy and Mrs Garus Somuye.

Others included Mrs Torogiwa Bose and Mr Wole Eliphus.

The event was anchored by a veteran master of ceremony, MC Woli Nla aka ‘O’ My God.
