Nigeria/Ghana Friendly: I’m Not Under Pressure To Perform —Ogude
Valerenga FC of Norway star and Super Eagles invitee, Fegor Ogude, has stated that he is not under pressure to perform in the 9 August’s international friendly match between the Super Eagles and the Black Star of Ghana.
The Nigerian football player currently playing for Vålerenga in the Norwegian premier league, Tippeligaen, said on Brila FM that he is happy to be shortlisted for the friendly encounter, adding that he has been able to adapt to the Eagles’ style of play with the help of his teammates.
‘‘I’m not under pressure to play and perform well in the team because my teammates have been helping me to settle down, most especially in the midfield,’’ he said.
He expressed optimism that the Super Eagles will defeat Ghana, reiterating that the team would put smile on the faces of Nigerians at the end of the friendly encounter.
Ogude’s club career began in the Nigeria Premier League with Warri Wolves, where he was the captain.
On 31 August, 2010, he signed for Norwegian team VÃ¥lerenga. He had been followed closely by the club after being on trial at the club, in the summer of 2009.
Meanwhile, former Nigerian international, Jonathan Akpoborie, has cautioned the technical crew and the Super Eagles not to focus only on the Nigeria/Ghana international friendly match.
He said the team should focus on the crucial Nations Cup qualifiermatch against Madagascar in September, emphasizing that the Nations Cup ticket should be their utmost priority.
“I advise the Eagles and their technical crew not to lay emphasis on their match against Ghana because it’s just a friendly match. Rather, they should use the match to perfect their plans for the match in Antananarivo,’’ he said.
