Olugbile disclosed that the association had sent formal congratulatory letters to the President-elect, Tinubu and the re-elected Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu.

The Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) on Thursday resolved to continue to work with incoming government of President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

ALARHOSPS’ President, Dr. Femi Olugbile said this at the 9th Annual General Meeting (GM) of the association held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo area of Lagos.

Olugbile, in his welcome address, said last year had been filled with positive and negative actions, saying there had been massive challenges for individuals and the association.

He said the nation had held both the presidential, governorship, national and state assemblies elections with lots of controversies and animosities in the society that reached unprecedented levels, which at some points almost degenerated into breakdown of law and order.

“For a time, there seemed to be a deep and worrisome cleavage between different people and different generations in our society.

“Happily, many of these controversies have gone down in pitch as reality has supervened. The elections have come and gone. By and large, the will of the people has prevailed,” he stated.

Olugbile disclosed that the association had sent formal congratulatory letters to the President-elect, Tinubu and the re-elected Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu.

“It is pertinent on this occasion that we reiterated our resolve to continue to work in every way within our power to help the governments of our State and our nation to achieve the lofty goals of creating a happy, developed, egalitarian society for our people,” he said.

However, Olugbile noted that the association was seeking to build for the future by trying to arrange corporate partnership and sponsorships for some of its activities.

“We are strengthening the capacity of our ALARHOSPS Consults to earn income for the organisation, anticipating a time when the subvention from government may dry up or become insufficient for the association’s needs.

“We are also seeking to build our welfare fund into a robust pool of funds that will be able, over time, to substantially fund our welfare obligations to our members, in the form of funds and support we give to people who are ill, people who are celebrating weddings, landmark birthdays and families who are marking the departure rituals of our members or spouses.

“From the income generated by this pool of funds, we are effectively converting the scheme into an insurance scheme of sorts with long term sustainability,” he added.

One of the resolves at the meeting was the hike in fresh members’ fee from N35,000 to N50,00o annually, while the old members’ annual subscription remains N25,000.
