Eguma Blames Officiating For Draw, As Ocean Boys Hold Dolphins

Chief coach of Dolphins of PortHarcourt, Stanley Eguma, has attributed their scoreless home draw against Ocean boys of Bayelsa on Saturday to the poor officiating of the centre referee, whom he alleged was biased during the match.

Eguma said he is disappointed with the way the referee handled the match but expressed confidence that his team will go ahead to win the title.

Dolphin’s premier league title ambition was dealt a big blow after they were only able to hold the side from Yenagoa to a goaless draw despite all efforts to put their name on the score board.

“There is nothing to worry about at the moment, we will not let this draw, caused by the poor officiating of the centre referee, affect the team’s league title ambition. We are poised to be the champions and the fact that we drew at home today does not mean we have lost focus.

“We are still focused and optimistic and do not forget that we have a game at hand. By the time we play that, we would be able to know our place on the log,” Eguma said after the pulsating match.

Eguma emphasized that there are more games to round off the season and all the remaining games are crucial and will decide where the crown goes at the end of the season.

“So we are not losing sleep, we are not losing hope, we are still topping the table and who says Sunshine cannot draw or lose?” he queried.

Meanwhile, Ocean Boys coach expressed delight in his side’s ability to secure the vital goaless draw in Port harcourt, saying its better than not having any point at all.

He said they were able to survive the antics of the homeside in which a fan was at the back of home team’s goalpost and blew whistle anytime they made an attempt to score.

A situation, he said, made the centre referee to stop the match temporarily.
