Manchester City are EPL Champions again

Champions Manchester City were handed the premier league trophy at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday having been crowned earlier after Arsenal lost at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

City were given rapturous welcome to the Etihad Stadium where they played Chelsea and they did not disappoint their fans, beating Chelsea by a lone goal.

Julian Alvarez put City in front on 12 minutes.

Alvarez was set free in the area by Cole Palmer and he made no mistake with a lovely finish into the bottom left corner.

Phil Foden, on 29 minutes received a lofted pass from the flank and shot from close range, but the ball flew just over the crossbar, almost brushing it.

Raheem Sterling, on 34 minutes received a precise low pass inside the box, controlled the ball and drilled it to the middle of the goal, but Stefan Ortega made a comfortable save to stop his effort.

Two minutes later, Conor Gallagher met a nice cross deep inside the 18-yard box and produced a fine header towards the right post, but the goalkeeper was well positioned and punched the ball away, deflecting it onto the post.

On 53 minutes, Trevoh Chalobah displayed brilliant awareness inside the six-yard box and leapt high to meet the free kick. He tried to put his header into the middle of the target, but Stefan Ortega kept the ball out.

Five minutes later, Kalvin Phillips showed good timing as he latched on to a perfect lofted pass into the box. He jumped high but his towering header lacked a little bit of accuracy and glanced off the right-hand post.
City put the ball inside the net on 71 minutes but the goal was canceled.

A precise cut back on the goal line from Riyad Mahrez found Alvarez right in front of goal, and he easily buried the ball low into the middle of the goal, but after a check by VAR, the goal was cancelled for a handball in the build up.
