Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has expressed pain over the death of veteran journalist and member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Dr Kingsley Nworie.
Nworie died on June 11 at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki. He had slumped earlier at a pre-conference meeting of the NGE’s South East caucus in Enugu on June 9.
This is contained in a condolence message to the Ebonyi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor,
According to the governor, Nworie’s death is so ‘painful’.
He described the former NUJ State Council Secretary and Deputy Director of News and Current Affairs of the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, as a seasoned journalist, who discharged his duties with passion and commitment.
“Nworie’s tragic death is a big loss to the journalism profession and the state in general. A veteran journalist discharged his duties professionally and made contributions to the development of the pen profession,” the message read.
Nwifuru extended his condolences to the deceased’sfamily, the NUJ and the NGE.
“I urge you to be consoled because your departed colleague lived a good life.”
