Quick Read
Hundreds of enraged Israeli settlers joined violent riots and attacks on Palestinian property in the West Bank on Wednesday, a day after a deadly attack on Israelis there.
The Israeli army destroyed the second-floor flat of an alleged Palestinian assailant in Nablus, West Bank, on Thursday.
The military stated on Twitter that the man was responsible for an October attack that killed an Israeli soldier.
According to the report, a second perpetrator’s home was demolished about a week ago.
Confrontations were reported on both sides during the demolition operation. Residents of Nablus threw stones at the forces and set tyres on fire and in response the army used tear gas.
Israel demolished homes as a form of punishment and deterrence.
Human rights organisations viewed this as collective punishment and a violation of human rights under international law.
For months, the security situation in Israel and the Palestinian Territories has been extremely tense, with clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the West Bank.
