Police operatives are hunting for gunmen who robbed and abducted a business woman identified as Mrs Onyi Ugba, at Okija street, Mile 2 Diobu area of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State early Friday evening.
It was gathered that the gunmen who were about five in number, barged into the store of Mrs Ugba located at Umuoji junction/Okija street Port Harcourt where they asked her to hand over all the proceeds from the day’s transactions.
However, a source told PM NEWS that the gunmen got infuriated when the woman could not bring out as much money as they expected and they therefore changed their plan from just robbing to abducting her .
It was learnt that neighbours scampered to safety as the gunmen shot sporadically, while whisking Mrs Ugba away.
Personnel of Mile 1 Police Division, Diobu, arrived at the scene minutes after the hoodlums had left.
The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident.
SP Koko disclosed that efforts are in top gear by the Police to rescue the victim unhurt and ensure the arrest of the perpetrators, while adding that investigation is ongoing.

The incident was reported to Mile 1 Police Division, but the suspects are yet to be arrested before the latest incident on Friday.
