Mrs. Onyi Ugba, the proprietor of the popular Superstore in Port Harcourt, kidnapped at Umuoji junction at Okija street, Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State on July 7,2023, has regained freedom after eight days in captivity.
A source close to the family disclosed that she was released by her abductors around Port Harcourt metropolis on Friday night (14, July,2023).
The source was silent on whether ransom was paid or not.
The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the release of the businesswoman.
She claimed that the business woman was released after the vehicle of her abductors was intercepted at a police checkpoint.
SP Koko said “Our men on stop and search in Abaili pack division intercepted the vehicle where she was blindfolded and rescued her.
Meanwhile, investigation is on top gear to arrest the perpetrators”.
