Again, Crimea suffers drone attacks
A drone attack destroyed another munitions storage in Russian-occupied Crimea, according to the regional governor.
Eleven drones were shot down over Crimea on Monday, according to Moscow-appointed governor Sergei Aksyonov on Telegram.
He did, however, claim that there was a “effect at the munitions stockpile in the Dzhankoy sector” of the peninsula, which Moscow illegally occupied in 2014.
A big cloud of smoke was captured on video and circulated online.
A residential building on the peninsula’s southern end was also damaged.
Several camps and depots in Dzhankoy, a district in north-eastern Crimea, support Russian occupation forces in southern Ukraine, and the major supply line for the Russian military runs via Crimea.
Aksyonov did not disclose any specifics concerning the ammo depot’s impact.
He stated that rail and car travel between Dzhankoy and the regional capital Simferopol had been halted, and that adjacent settlements had been evacuated.
The current strike comes after two other munitions stores in Crimea were targeted, one in the central region and one in the south, resulting in days of ammo explosions.
The Ukrainian military confirmed responsibility for both assaults.
