Rivers teenager accuses Pastor father of plotting to kill her, incest in petition to police

A 16-year-old girl (names withheld) has accused her father who is a Pastor in Eneka community of Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State of plotting to kill her and sleeping with her sister in a petition to the police.

The teenager in the petition to Rivers Commissioner of Police, dated 8 August,2023, sighted by our reporter asked for rescue from her father.

She claimed that she ran away from the home due to trauma of alleged incest between the father and her elder sister.

However, it was learnt that the teenage girl had thereafter ran away from home and was living with woman.

But it was learnt that upon report by her parents, police officers from Eneka Division went to arrest her where she was taking refuge and handed her over to her father.

A Port Harcourt based human right group, the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign criticised the action of the police.

IK Alexander, the Chairman of group in an interview with our reporter faulted the decision of the police to handover the girl to her father after she has made such serious allegations against him.

Mr Alexander said the action of the Police Division is condemnable, irresponsible and shocking.

He said the organization would have expected that after the Police Division took the teenage girl from the woman she was living with; they Police will take her to Ministry of Social welfare or any other Government facility pending a thorough and discrete investigation of her allegations which made her to run away from home.

Mr Alexander called on Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Nwonyi Emeka to intervene in the matter.

The Rivers State Police Command had not reacted to the report at the time of filing this report.
