Chinese authorities issued a yellow alert on Sunday evening for possible geological disasters triggered by rain.

Rain-induced geological disasters have been warned of in sections of Liaoning, Jilin, Guizhou, and Xinjiang from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Meteorological Administration.

Residents have been cautioned to exercise cautious, particularly in locations with concealed hazards.

For geological disasters, China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red being the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.

The death toll from a rain-caused rock and mudslide in the suburbs of Xian, the capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, on Friday evening has increased to 21, with six people still missing, according to rescuers on Sunday.
