There has been a public expression of outrage over the appointment of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, who is a pastor with RCCG, as the new Soun-elect of Ogbomosoland.

The appointment was confirmed by the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola on Saturday.

Olayiwola noted that the appointment was made after a long-drawn processes specified under the law.

Meanwhile, Pastor Olaoye has also accepted the appointment.

He told his church members that he was following God’s directive by accepting the the offer.

The explanation appeared good enough to some of his members but many took to social media to express their displeasure with his appointment.

“That Pastor should not have accepted that position. If you want to serve God, serve God,” Aibinuola stated on X on Sunday.

One Hon. Rilwan also kicked against the appointment.

“What is RCCG pastor looking for in traditional position.. so this man will also go through the process of all the sacrifices but later come up with in Jesus name we pray,” Rlwan stated.

Another Nigerian said: “Matthew 6:24-26. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord.”
