On Sunday 22 October 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with other dignitaries paid their last respects to the late wife of the Afenifere Chieftain, Prince Tajudeen Olusi (OON), Alhaja Mariam Iyabo Olusi at her 8th day Fidau prayer.

Prince Olusi who is the Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Lagos State could not hold back tears of joy in public as he was completely overwhelmed by the support given to him by friends and political associates who stormed the Harbour Point, 4, Wilmot Point Road, Victoria Island, Lagos State venue of the prayer to honour his late wife.

President Tinubu was represented by the Governor of Lagos State and Host of the event, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was accompanied to the venue by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde.

Wife of the President, Senator Remi Tinubu was represented by Princess Adu while Oba Rilwanu Akiolu I was represented by White Cap Chiefs of Lagos State.

Other dignitaries who honoured the late Olusi include former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Segun Osoba, former Lagos Deputy Governors Femi Pedro and Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefilure; Secretary of Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF), Senator Anthony Adefuye; Honourable Bayo Abraham Adesanya, Son of late Afenifere Leader, Senator Abraham Adesanya; Senator Ganiyu Olarenwaju Solomon (GOS); Alhaja Jakande and Cardinal James Odunmbaku (a.k.a Baba Eto).

Others are Alhaja Eshinlokun, Representative of Chief (Mrs) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, Iyaloja General; Leader of the Coalition For Better Nigeria, Comrade Awa Bamiji and GAC members among others.

Clerics at the event included Chief Imam Apapa, Chief Imam LASU, Chief Imams of Lagos, Abeokuta, Badagry, Epe, and other prominent Imams.

In the President’s speech delivered by his representative, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu appreciated the contribution of everybody, commiserated with the bereaved family and prayed for a repose of the soul of the late Alhaja Olusi.

The President also prayed for a quick end to the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian War and urged harmony between the Islamic and Christian worlds.
