Daddy Yankee officially retires from music to become an evangelist

Renowned reggaeton star Ramón Ayala, known as Daddy Yankee, has officially concluded his music career.

The Puerto Rican singer and rapper made the announcement onstage during the final performance of his farewell tour, La Meta, in Puerto Rico last weekend.

Expressing his intentions to “evangelize the world” and live a life devoted to Jesus, Daddy Yankee shared a video message on his Instagram page.

Daddy Yankee revealed a sense of emptiness he had long sought to fill, acknowledging that despite years of global success, accolades, and adulation, there remained an unfillable void in his life.

Quoting a Bible verse, the ‘Despacito’ artist reflected on the futility of gaining worldly success at the expense of one’s soul: “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world if he forfeits his soul?”

He concluded by affirming the end of one chapter in his life and the beginning of a new story.

Daddy Yankee, a trailblazer in the reggaeton genre since starting his career in 1994, retired at the age of 46.

“Family: This day for me, is the most important day in my life.. tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one.
