Rivers: 2 carjackers beaten to coma after failed robbery

Two carjackers were beaten to stupor by an angry mob early Monday morning at Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State after their attempt to snatch a Toyota Corolla from a Bolt driver failed.

The incident reportedly happened at about on Monday, March 25.

As was gathered, the carjackers had stabbed the vehicle owner and attempted to forcefully take his car. But the driver raised alarm which attracted people around the place who descended on the armed robbers

Due the terrible state the angry mob left the car thieves, there was an initial reports that they were dead.

However, the Rivers State Police Command has dismissed claim

The Spokesperson for the Command, Superintendent of Police(SP) Grace Iringe-Koko in response to enquiry said the suspects are in coma and are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

SP Koko explained that based on the distress calls received by Elekahia Police Division, the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of the station and her men rushed down to the scene where they rescued the victim(owner of the car) who was stabbed by the suspected robbers.

She said they also took the suspects who went into as a result of beating they received from angry mob to hospital.

SP Koko added that investigation has already commenced.
