30 Police Officers Fail Promotion Course

As the results of the police promotion course held in June this year are about to be released, there are strong indications that 30 officers failed the course across various police commands in the country

From 1 June to 15 July, this year, police sergeants who were due for promotion to inspectors were sent on the course. The course took place at Police College, Ikeja, Lagos; Iperu Police College, Iperu, Ogun State; Orji River Police College, Enugu and Police College, Maiduguri, Borno State, for the three batches of officers.

However, P.M.NEWS learnt on Monday that out of the 2,207 sergeants that attended the promotion course, eight failed while four were absent, making a total of 12 officers.

Batch A and C, which had officers from corporal to sergeant and constable to corporal also had about the same number of officers, who attended the course from July 18 to August 26, this year at the various police colleges

A police source at the education unit in Lagos told P.M.NEWS that the number represented both the officers that did not show up for the course and those that failed.

He, however, assured that before the end of this month, the results will be out and the affected officers will know their fate.

The police education officer explained that if any officer from any police formation across the country fails the promotion examination three times, the person would be dismissed from the force.
