Ikorodu Residents Cry Out Over Bad Roads

Residents of Eyita, Ojokoro, Awobolu, Powerline, NEPA in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State have cried out to the state government on the bad state of roads and lack of functional drainages in their areas.

They blamed the bad roads and lack of drainages on poor planning and government’s neglect of the areas. Kuti Adebola, a resident of Awobolu lamented the harrowing experience residents pass through on the roads whenever it rains. “Our area is zero in terms of government presence. There is no visible government presence in this area. The government generates money from this place but it has abandoned the people. Despite assurances by Governor Babatunde Fashola that Ikorodu roads would be fixed, nothing has been done.”

Another resident, Kayode Ibrahim, decried the neglect of roads in the area. “We are suffering here. I am appealing to Governor Fashola to pay attention to our roads and reduce our suffering,” he pleaded.

Sulaiman Lawal, another resident expressed dissatisfaction with state of roads in his area. “If not for the association of landlords, the situation would have been worse than it is. There is no drainage system, no good road and no power supply,” he lamented.

At Eyita, a resident popularly called Iya Ijebu said: “I have been living in Ikorodu for the past five years and I have not seen changes in my area.
