VP Tasks Muslims To Seek Hajj Knowledge

Vice President Namadi Sambo has urged Muslims to adequately seek knowledge on how to perform Hajj to avoid performing the rites in ignorance.

He made the appeal during the launch of two books on the performance of Hajj written in Hausa language by Malam Idris Adamu-Kumbashi held in Zaria, Kaduna State on Sunday.

Sambo, who was represented by Alhaji Tahir Umar-Tahir, said Islam cautioned Muslims against performing any act of worship without knowledge of it.

The Vice-President decried a situation where prospective pilgrims spent over N500,000 to perform the Hajj, only to get nothing as a reward from God.

He appealed to Islamic scholars to patiently and adequately teach prospective pilgrims the Hajj processes before proceeding on the journey. Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari of Zamfara, stressed the need for Muslims to attach importance to education.

Yari, who was represented by Professor Abdullahi Muhammad-Shinkafi, called on Muslims to forget their differences and work collectively for the growth of Islam.

He charged Muslims to always contribute generously towards positive development of the entire society.

The guest speaker, Sheik Aliyu Muhammad, said the essence of the book was to educate pilgrims on problems of Hajj and its solution.

Muhammad, who is also the Chief Imam of Low-Cost Mosque in Zaria, warned Muslims to avoid using unlawful means to perform Hajj.
